  Saxophonist Eddie Akhmetchine came to the U.S.A. from St.Petersburg Russia on a music contract in 1993. In 1994 he received a full scholarship to go to the Clark Terry International Institute of Jazz Studies. During the years at the institute he received numerous awards at the Chicago, Kansas, and St.Louis Jazz Festivals. In the summer of 1996 Eddie played in the Clark Terry Big Band, half of which consisted of  the Count Basie's band members. (Trumpeter Clark Terry-Miles Davis's early influence, played in the orchestras of Duke Ellington and Count Basie).
  In 1997, after graduating,  Eddie Akhmetchine  moved to  New York city where he lived and played for two years.
  In 1999 Eddie came back to Houston and has been playing with the top jazz musicians in the city. Eddie has performed at such known venues as Cezanne's jazz club, Tommy's Seafood Steakhouse, Sambuca jazz cafe, the Hobby Center, Wortham Theater, George R. Brown Convention Center, and the Fine Arts Museum.
  For past three years Eddie has taught saxophone at Katy High School and Taylor High School.

  In 2003 Eddie recorded a CD of original compositions entitled "Look Within". The music is an interesting blend of Jazz, Pop and World styles. Another wonderful CD "Live At Harvest", consisting of jazz standards, was recorded in 2005. Both CDs are available for sale. Please use   |contact/buy the CD|   page above.

  In June of 2008 Eddie recorded a new CD "New Day". The original music on the CD is an interesting blend of jazz, pop and world music styles. The exciting new band includes Paul Chester-acoustic guitar, Andrew Lienhard-piano, Clyde Adams-drums, and Chris Maresh-upright bass. The CD was recorded at the well-known SugarHill Recording Studio by award winning engineer Andy Bradley. These days Eddie is spending a lot of time editing the CD with Erich Avinger at his Invisible Audio studio. The CD will be available in Summer of 2009.
